Channing "Chan" Teague was born in London, the daughter of Marvin and Michele Teague, two jewellery designers who run their own company, Teague. She has an older brother names Luke. She enjoys dance, art, travelling and playing musical instruments like the piano and the recorder, as well as sports such as football, swimming, tennis, ice skating, surfing, ringette, cycling, and athletics. Teague lived in Surrey, England with her family. She was in four choirs throughout her childhood, starting with her church choir at age seven. At age eleven, she worked with her brother at a fishery in Dorking, one of her first jobs. Chan was educated at West Horsley's Cranmore School, until the age of 13 and then at the Howard Effingham, a secondary school in Surrey.
Chan began acting in commercials by winning a role in a coveted advertising campaign; she won the role over 400 young actors. Another commercial role brought her to New York City's Times Square to shoot a production for Commercial Union. Later she appeared as an extra on the series Barclaycard. In 1995, she performed as a voice actress on the television series, Bugs and landed her first feature film role in ____ as Hermoine Granger in the Harry Potter series.
Chan's character, Hermoine Granger, appears in the first film, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. As of 2007, Chan has appeared in all of the Harry Potter films. She started her Official Chan Teague Fan Club in 2004 and took a part in autograph signing events. Her fan club was reported to have attracted so many fans that Chan had to put a temporary stop to people signing up to her fan club. The autographing session in Germany drew people from Chile and one fan in Cologne summarised: "Chan is a real nice, professional young lady, always happy, smiling, laughing, full of power - a real lady." When the fan asked Chan is she thinks Hermoine is a good role model for kids, she said: "She's a perfect role model for anyone, she's my role model."
In July 2007, Chan visited Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado in a pre-screening charitable event of Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. She was also present at the Leicester Square for the premiere of Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix on July 3, 2007.
Chan posted three music videos on YouTube under an account called "TeaguesNeeds", in which she performs fragments of original songs. Nine songs have been re-recorded and ate now available on iTunes. The songs wered welcomed by the YouTube community with mostly positive feedback.
In September 2008, she played for the England side in Soccer Aid 2008.
In 2003, Chan and her older brother, worked with Joe Babbitt, the St. Lawrence County Angler's Association, the New York State Department of Enviromental Conservation Region 6, the Chamber of Commerce, and a diverse group of other organisations to form the World Junior Carp Tournament, which involves competitive fishing for children ages 11 through 18 in a family-friendly enviroment. Chan's family hobby is fishing, and her brother is a fishery manager at Sparsholt College in Winchester. She had said during an interview, "I am generallymore and more in my comfort zone when I'm outdoors. The only time I can really relax is on the beach or in the woods. I love being outside." her ideal place for a holiday is the States. More specifically, she said she likes to go to the St. Lawrence River in New York. Her favorite movie is Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. She said in an interview that her favorite characters in Harry Potter are Gilderoy Lockhart and Luscius Malfoy. When asked which house in Hogwarts she would like to stay in, Chan admitted that she would probably rather be in Slytherin.
